In an article manuscript submitted to a journal, I started the article with the concept of controlling space and continued with the concept of learner autotomy. This is the comment that I got from a reviewer.
Learner autonomy capacity should be informed earlier in the introduction.
My response is presented below.
I have been working on the concept of learner autonomy for several years, and of course it is easier for me to go from the concept of learner autonomy. However, I do not want to go in that way simply because I would like to focus on the concept of controlling space and place, not really on the concept of controlling learning processes (learner autonomy). Of course I can use learner autonomy (controlling learning processes) as an umbrella concept, and controlling place for learning as a component of learner autonomy. However, I do not feel it right because I think that there is a difference between ‘controlling a learning place’ and ‘controlling a place for learning purposes.’ As I do not want to go very much into detail with such differences, I discuss ‘learner autonomy’ as a relevant concept, rather than as a ‘umbrella concept’ in the study. There will be of course a lot of discussions on the interrelatedness of these concepts.
