Look at the questionnaire items in a questionnaire instrument below and put them into groups. Suggest the concept investigated in each group of items, identify problematic items, and revise them.


Please respond to the following statements, using a five-point Likert’s scale ranging from 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree).

  1. I say and write new English words several times to remember them.
  2. I reflect on what they learn about English and look for something important.
  3. When I can’t think of a word during a conversation in English, I use gestures.
  4. I look for opportunities to use English as much as possible.
  5. I feel excited when I communicate in English with others.
  6. English gives me more opportunities after graduation.
  7. I go online as a way of learning English.
  8. I learn English to live and work in foreign country.
  9. I think that I am a good decision maker.
  10. I study English when there are other interesting things to do.
  11. I plan my schedule so I will have enough time to study English.
  12. When something upsets me in learning English, I can easily calm down.
  13. English broadens my view of other cultures.
  14. I learn a new word by making a mental picture of a situation in which the word might be used.
  15. Studying English makes me more confident in expressing myself.
